Worker's Compensation: Chiropractic patients back to work quicker, cheaper

Numerous studies have shown that worker's compensation patients who utilize chiropractic care consistently get back to work quicker and at less cost after an on-the-job injury.
A study conducted in Oregon in 1990 evaluated the work loss time of chiropractic patients and medical patients with similar disabling low-back work injuries. The Authors concluded that the lost time off work for the chiropractic patients was 9.0 days and 11.5 days for the medical patients, two and a half days longer than the chiropractic patients.
The Utah Worker's Compensation Board did a study in 1992 that showed even though chiropractors saw patients more often and for longer periods, the costs were considerably less.. Treatment costs were $684.00 for the medically treated patients and $527.00 for the patients under chiropractic care. The savings in compensation costs were even more dramatic; average compensation for medical cases was $668.00 and $68.00 for the chiropractic ones. In other words, medical care averaged nearly ten times the cost of chiropractic care.
A three year study reported in the British Medical Journal in 1990 observed that chiropractic patients were significantly better within six months and stayed that way during the two year follow-up period than were those seen by medical doctors.
By way of commentary, Vertebral Subluxations that are caused by work-related injuries or are present before an injury occurs can slow down the recovery process from other injuries. Correcting the subluxation through chiropractic care gives your body the opportunity to repair itself as quickly and efficiently as possible.
