A CHILD IS AS BRITTLE AS A FLOWER
| There are
several areas in each bone that are not even fused at birth. The growth and development of the Lumbar Spinal Canal achieve final adult size at certain levels by one year of age. The growth plates on each bone fuse anywhere from age 8 to 18. The spinal vertebrae are mostly cartilage and not bone. The joints in the spine are not developed until between the ages of 7 and 10, making the spine extremely unstable until the child reaches those ages. The head is extremely large with respect to the neck and torso in newborns, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The muscles along the spine that hold it up and in place are extremely weak and undeveloped in newborns, infants, toddlers and preschoolers. Spinal and joint ligaments, tendons, muscles, and tissues are very elastic, making it much easier for the spine and joints to become misaligned and develop improperly than in adults. All of the instability and elasticity of the spine in children makes it very easy to receive. spinal cord injury. The chance of getting through childhood with your spine and nerve system in its proper position is not a good one. The longer a child waits to get checked by a Chiropractor, the more likely some of the spine and nerve system damage is to become permanent. After the ages of 7-10, you can never again be totally well. A child who grows up with an abnormal spine and subluxations grows up not thinking, feeling, or functioning like nature intended. They grow to be unhealthy adults and their longevity is severely affected. |
