Eating Less Reduces Cancer Risk
| Eating less is a potent anticancer agent-"effective against
virtually all types of cancer," as this article points out. Experimental animals
live longer when they eat less food, while overfeeding them "decreases life span
and increases cancer incidence." Evidence suggests this is true of humans as
well. Eating too much apparently throws our hormones out of balance. When women eat extra fat, for example, their bodies produce more estrogen, which "increases endometrial cancer risk in humans." And "the low risk of breast cancer in less developed countries undoubtedly relates to calorie restriction during adolescence and puberty." - M. W. Panza, "Designer foods: Effects on development of cancer," Journal of the National Cancer InstituteMonographs 12 (1992): 105-7. |
